Meet Michele.

Michele Moore Echols is a conservative Republican candidate for District Judge of the 22nd Judicial District, Division E. A lifelong Northshore resident, Michele is a respected attorney and community leader with more than 25 years of experience serving clients and advocating for the most vulnerable in our community.

Raised in Slidell in a family of hardworking entrepreneurs, Michele learned early the conservative values of personal responsibility, integrity, and faith while working in her family’s small business, Mike’s Hardware & Building Supply, Inc.—a local institution that has served the community for more than four decades. That foundation shaped her belief that strong families, honest work, and respect for the rule of law are the cornerstones of a healthy community.

Michele earned her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University and a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Florida School of Law. She began her legal career with the Louisiana Supreme Court, where she reviewed civil cases for the Justices, gaining firsthand insight into how the law should be applied fairly, consistently, and without legislating from the bench.

For more than two decades, Michele has built a distinguished legal career in tax, business, estate planning, and civil litigation, working at Hickey & Riess, Gill & Keiffer, Litchfield Cavo, and now of Counsel at Blue Williams in Mandeville. Her expertise is widely recognized across Louisiana, and in 2023 she was selected by LexisNexis to author Louisiana Business and Commercial Law.

Michele has devoted countless hours to pro bono service and cites this as her motivation to seek the bench. She worked to help children with special needs, seniors, and families who cannot afford legal representation. She is a recipient of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Pro Bono Publico Award and Southeast Louisiana Legal Services’ Outstanding Commitment Award. Her service on the boards of Hope House, Professional Women of St. Tammany, the Covington Three Rivers Art Festival, and the Catholic Community Foundation for the Archdiocese of New Orleans reflects her deep commitment to faith and community.

Michele and her husband, Christopher Gabel, have raised a blended family of four children and are now proud grandparents. With a lifetime of service to the Northshore, Michele is committed to preserving the values that make this community strong: faith, family, accountability, and respect for the law.
